Things to do
We can do no better than to point you in the direction of our local, East Anglian magazine Eastlife which has complete listings about events and places to go.
Details of main seasonal events can be found at https://www.eastlife.co.uk/events/
As you will see, we are surrounded by farmland. As with any farming community, there are footpaths roundabout, but any rambling must be done with crops and wild-life in mind. There are nice Elsworth walks in what we locals call the ‘water mead-ows’, and walks to Conington (you can make the White Swan your destination). You can also walk to Knapwelll and Boxworth. There is an OS Map in the Hut showing these rights of way but it’s perhaps best to talk to us, and we can let you know where the nice walks are and give you detailed directions. The wood at Knapwell is managed by the BCN Wildlife Trust and is a rarity because it’s full of mature elm trees (happily they have survived the dreaded Dutch Elm disease). In spring the wood is full of birdlife, bluebells and rare oxslips.
You can also take a look at walks organised in the region by Cambridge Ramblers.
